The Kermes Oak (n. Quercus coccifera) is a tipical bush or tree in the south region of Portugal. With tortuous trunk and oftenly useless, hardly it reaches a significant size. Dry soil common, it adapts well to rocky terrain and has strong roots. Its fruits are oval acorns with a rigid tip and a dome also with tips.
It belongs to the family of Fagaceae, its flowering occurs in the Spring and fruiting from three years, the August in the following year to the flowering. It is especially pleasing to the Mediterranean climate.
